What is Queer Assembly?

Born from an MFA Thesis project, the intent of Queer Assembly is to amplify LGBTQ+ voices in order to increase representation and strengthen the queer community’s narratives while creating a platform to share stories with friends, family, strangers, and allies alike.

Why this idea? Hi, I’m David, and as someone who personally accepted my sexual orientation as bisexual in my late-twenties while in a committed heterosexual relationship—I think it is imperative to share our story with others. If it hadn’t been for listening to different queer people, I would never have realized that being bisexual was a narrative in my book.

What can you expect? A collection of personal stories shared by an LGBTQ+ person, in which their LGBTQ+ experience has had a significant impact, such as coming out, transitioning, LGBTQ+ legislation, pride, insurance, families, relationships, health, and wellness, etc. This doesn’t mean every article will be through a lens of rose-colored glasses; contrarily, these will be grounded in reality, sometimes celebratory, often reflective and raw, but always all queer.

Have a story to tell?
